No anti freeze - VR6

Recommended Posts

I replaced 1 of the rad pipes few months ago and didnt get round to putting antifreeze in. The car is usually parked up and comes out only 2 or 3 times a months. Busy with work i just didnt have the time to top it up. Yeh i know....im pretty stuffed :( Will the block naturally crack? also the water pipes are frozen. Iv already taken off the expansion cap.I suppose just got to wait and see what happens when the ice is melted. Has this happened to anyone on here or you anyone you know, what was the outcome. Im not going to start it till its in a warm garage.

Appreciate your help

I have left my 2.0 16v with water for all winter, not a Scottish one but a Polish one. - 25 C during almost 3 months. Everything frizzed up but.... I was lucky. Nothing happened.

What can I suggest.

Do not start engine before ice is gone. Maybe You are lucky ass well.

It's not just an anti freeze but a corrosion inhibitor...

The VR6 heads seem to suffer badly enough from the wrong type of anti freeze let alone none at all.

You could be lucky but probably a good time to get a replacement engine.

DO NOT be impatient with the water melting, make sure its 100% defrosted before starting the car up, then flush the system and put some anti freeze in before you take it out for a drive.
