rado-steve 0 Posted January 25, 2010 is this possible, what would i need to do this and run a 2.0 8v on carbs in my rado ??? also how badly would this affect my mpg, thanks in advance guys Not much point without a X-Flow head IMHO! The hot exhaust manifold seems to cause lots of running probs with fuel vapourisation!
Teji 0 Posted January 25, 2010 how can i get a x flow head then ???
Diamond Hell 0 Posted January 25, 2010 From an Albambra or various cooking SEAT 2.0 and 1.6 motors. Oh or a Passat. Just don't insult it by nailing 1960s technology to it.
g60rc 0 Posted January 30, 2010 i say go for it, bet there isn't many corrado's on carbs. The crossflow head would be needed though i'd say, wouldn't like the idea of a set of twin carbs sat on an exhaust manifold. You'd probably see mid 35mpg ish on a sensible run, and mid 25ish being sensible round town.
Teji 0 Posted February 1, 2010 Anyone give me a parts list of what I need please, Gonna do it ! ! !
g60rc 0 Posted February 2, 2010 Ignition loom/dizzy etc from a mk2 golf big block carb model Inlet manifold carb>manifold fitting kit Carbs Throttle Linkage Low pressure fuel pump and regulator Fuel lines
muppetlab 0 Posted February 2, 2010 Will be pricy though. i ran twin webers on an 8v mk1 and it aint cheap, inlet manifold not too bad if you can wait and find a second hand one, but if you want twin webers you need either 40 dcoes or 45's, they will need jetting and the chokes getting right, and too be honest the MPG is going to be poor, twin performance carbs chuck fuel in. I'd guess if you can get some good deals on second hand bits maybe cost you £400-600, you dont want to know what new prices would cost!!! But the the induction noise is so sweet you wont care you are only getting 19mpg!
Diamond Hell 0 Posted February 2, 2010 Got any plans on how you're going to get through the MOT, or is your C early enough to be pre-cat?
Teji 0 Posted February 2, 2010 MMMMM, Gonna have a rethink Seems like a lot of work for not much gain ! the mot is not a problem, got a friendly mot tester.
Teji 0 Posted March 23, 2010 people, can i put bike carbs on ???
Teji 0 Posted April 11, 2010 Bike carbs people, is this doable on a 2.0 8v on a M reg, really want to do this mod !
g60rc 0 Posted April 13, 2010 It is the same principle as twin carbs, just need a different manifold and someone who knows what jetting roughly...
Teji 0 Posted November 22, 2010 so what would be my best option, not realling feeling an engine swap.
