Thom 1 Posted February 19, 2010 Hi, yep I know I should be on an Audi forum for this, but thought I'd start closer to home. Have done a search and nothing's telling me anything I don't know already. Spent this afternoon changing the discs and pads on my g/fs Audi A3, put having a pig of a job winding in the caliper pistons to fit the new pads. I have a tool to connect a ratchet to the piston and am turning it clockwise and pushing but the piston just turns (without retracting). Have also attatched a bleed pipe to the outlet to reduce resistance put not having much success with that either. Only asking as I understand VWs work the same way and hoping someone can help. Cheers :)
mikkijayne 0 Posted February 19, 2010 Rear calipers I presume? Do they have manual or electric handbrake mechanisms? On the later cars you have to have VAG-COM to electronically retract the pistons. If they're manual then they should just wind back in like VW calipers do.
