holeinmk1 0 Posted March 26, 2010 Not sure if this should go in here or somewhere else, I'm wondering whats the best to get a cam cover (16v) cleaned up and polished, i'm used to golf mk1 8vs, which i think look best painted gloss black. But the 16v cam cover i think looks really nice polished up, anyone on here done this before, if so how, and can you do it any other parts? Cheers, Tom :D
Woodsy_is_back 0 Posted March 27, 2010 I did a Google search under "Chromers & Metal platers" - came up with 3 in my local area - all of whom were advertsing that they undertook automotive component plating . . .
Erny 0 Posted March 29, 2010 Sand paper, and sore fingers, I had a 16v cam cover that I had removed the ridges off, go a power sander were I could to get the texture off, then simply sit down with a film and got busy using different grades of paper and a block, you can also use autosol and other abrasives, I finally used 2500wet and dry then get a buffing wheel on a drill. Same process as wheels or any alluminium parts.
