Recommended Posts

should i be using Quantum Synta or Platinium in the VR these days... ???

My VW dealer only sells the platinium stuff 5w-40. fully synth

however vwspares sell both.

from my records when serviced at VW in the past they used Synta which is the semi synth stuff 10w-40....

or does it matter as they both are VW505.00

I guess i should be using the search here :brickwall:

From what I've read Synta (10w40 semi-synth) is what used to be used, and many people still do! My local stealer still sells Synta. Someone's review on here (from what I read) didn't really get on with the platinum.

Synta! U do need a trade account with TPS, or someone that has one, or u can try going in blagging it apparently...

I bought 20litres from a guy on ebay for £55 delivered. Saves u a bit of dollar if ur gonna service the VR urself...unless of course u find someone friendly with a TPS account!

I tried the Platinum stuff and my VR (with around 105k miles) didnt like, went through a fair bit of it.

Went back to the Synta Silver stuff and its fine, imo the Silver is a little too thin.
