1) You can edit your own posts

2) Why on earth would you want flames coming out of the exhaust?

Well it aint gonna be happening on a VR6, unless you fancy melting a catalyst.

And why the hell do you have anything to prove to a 1.4 punto? You are driving a 2.8 litre V6 which would eat a 1.4 litre Punto for breakfast.

Flames from the exhaust and a tailpipe the width of a bowling ball do not make your car look or sound cool.. it makes it look stupid. Don't waste your time trying to copy your mate.

is there any way of doing this on my 1.8 KR??

Obviosuly no cat...and i think i'm over fuelling slightly because it runs around 22mpg!

How easy is it to rig up a flame kit??

Anyone know how??

P.S yes it is cool...ok it doesn't show performance, but it gets looks! Everyone seen that TT VR6?? the one that spits flames...well nice!!!

some idiot drove past me a few days ago in a seat hatchback with flames coming out of the exhaust. looked absolutley stupid  , fair enough if the car is so powerful that flames come out of the exhaust naturally, but making them come out is just plain daft

...and also illegal... If your car flames on over-run, it'll be a small flame that pops out of the exhaust as you change gear, or let off the throttle from WOT, which is acceptable in law... These flamer kits are not legal because they are forcing fuel into the exhaust for the sole reason of creating flames which causes your car to be VERY unsafe for other motorists and pedestrians... :?

It also makes you look a prize prat where as a small flame on over-run shows that your car is running in quite a high state of tune...

My g60 spits fire and blows everytime i rev past 4k rpm and change gear, i dont have a cat. Flames usually come on high boosted cars, when changing gear ie closing the throttle u get more fuel than usual due to lack of boost, then when you open the throttle the boost kicks some unburnt petrol out in the exhaust which then it burns due to high temps which you see the lound bangs and flames coming out of the back. Flames coming out of a tuned boosted engine look COOL because the car has balls but doin it artificialy like those flame kits is stupid. Id assume the fiat is a 1.4 turbo.

My car does it apparently... not intentional, but when just slowing down in traffic and it popps with the odd flame, makes people wonder.

My old 8v MKII GTI used to pop and flame too when changing at high RPM. THink it has a lot to do with what exhaust you are running. If you have a free-flow with limited number of boxes you will probably get the odd flame.

Cheers,

Leon

Oh dear, oh dear! You have a Corrado, not a jazzed up Punto,

When I visit this forum I read interesting questions from like minded Corrado enthusiasts.

I’m totally shocked to read a post about flames? Fair enough improve on handling and performance, maybe even add a few practical contempory mods. But please, no flames! I hope for all VW devotees you reconsider this stupid idea! Maybe I don’t speak for all of us? But I don’t buy Maxpower or Redline and until I do I will laugh in the face of twats who drive cars with flames licking their bumpers. If driven right your VR6 has more than enough grunt and sports handling to out perform any Punto. If you do decide on buying a flame kit, why not go the whole hog, have some flames airbrushed on the bonnet, and get some neon under lights, and those blue lights on your washer jets? Cool, well cool!....Mock it?

point in case is have a look at the video onfast Purple of DubWhizz's G60 golf... the guys didn't believe it spat 3 foot flames on over-run until it did it and nearly cooked the guys in the boot! :?

That's what a flaming exhaust is SUPPOSED to look like, and when it's supposed to do it! 8)

Yep, the Police are not fond of flames. My black G40 spits them in between gear changes at high RPM as the WOT does not cut quick fuel enough. I was informed of this first time a couple of years back when I chased a british racing green Impreza turbo estate out of the slip road St. Michels wood services on the M5, I was very pleased to be keeping up with Mr Impreza. Little did I know that I was also been followed by another British racing green Impreza. There was then an aray of flashing lights, I was then aware of the fact i'd been persuing and had been pursued, sandwiched between two unmarked police cars. The coppers immidiatly started looking for a flamer kit on my car as it was chucking flames out of the back in between gear changes. They were more curious to why a polo was keeping the pace of their car. I offered an explination of having a failing lamba probe which was causing the car to run rich, hence the flames and that I would sort it the following week.

I enjoy the 'Q' factor of my cars and it all really goes to pot when you have flames poping out of the rear. Plus the fact that it blows the baffles in the silencers to pieces making for aloud exhaust which again does nothing for the 'Q; factor. I pass up challenges by 1.1's for fear their handling and brakes are not quite up to the same standard and can do without a incident of a itallian shoping trolly planting into the back of me as they attempt out brake you on the 115/90 10' tiny footprint as they have not the power to overtake you.

saw an EVO 7 pop flames tonight...as well as a Jamsport tuned escort van with NOS.

Also saw a huge crash...where a Integra Type R pulled in front of a racing Ford focus ...driver of honda was gutted.

My crashes are due to driving on slicks...well practically. Its due to my bone idelness...in just 3months i've bent my wishbone, slid into an E36 BMW...and also slid while braking into a Vectra GSI...but the guy was really cool about it and i'll soon be off in his 2 seater caterham 7.

New tyres means less crashes....the popping flames things just looks awesome...but i wouldn't touch a flamer kit. Like someone on here said, the car has to have balls to do it! and anyway, my cars a VW..not a ford.

Rodders- :p

i got stopped by the plod in my g60 for having flames, onve again happens on gearchanges on high revs and if drop a cog and engine brake dones it when it losing revs from the highend. They pulled me over and told me they were going to give me a caution for using a flamer kit on the roads?!?!?! so i gave them the keys and told them to show me where the flamer kit was as id happily remove it, they couldnt find anything, found the supercharger and asked what it was tho
