VR6 0 Posted April 3, 2004 A 106 GTi will match a VR from 20 - 80 no problem. I driven many times against a mate with one giving the same results each time. I only pull ahead after 80 or so. It's also one of the best handling cars with steering feel aplenty, totally inertia free ride just bobs slightly on dips and crests. The only fault they have is their tiny offset pedals. Performance Car figures Jan '98 0-60 7.2 secs. Standing 1/4 mile 15.8 secs/89mph. Nippy is a bit of an understatement. I better sell the VR then

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted April 3, 2004 Just goes to show what a car with a low mass can achieve! The VR6 is almost 300Kg heavier and it's power plant is not the most consistent of engines. The VR also has nearly 80 ft/lb more torque at it's disposal, but given it's larger weight deficit, the baby pug will still keep up cross-country. Peugeot are also the suspension masters, so you really need to be a committed driver to escape from a GTI. The VR is more at home on fast roads where the leggy gearing and torque comes into their own. 90mph + acceleration is it's forte. K
