HELP CRANKSHAFT NOSE MAY BE BENT!

Oh god what do i do if cranks bent? is it expensive to replace?

 

What jobs are worth doing if i do it?

Thats pretty dam impressive if you have bent a crank! what gives you the impression its bent?

I know a man who snapped one in half in his mk2 gti! We wet ourselves when we found what had happened! How the hell it snapped we don't know!

How are you checking that?

To check the crank for concentricity it would need to be out of the block. The only part you could check would be the two ends - clutch and pulley ends I mean. If you put a dti on the ends and turn it, this will highlight any issues.

this is the thing i had my pulley dti checked and its fine...

 

ill have to drop the crank then? ball ache :(

Is this on a G60??

 

It's not uncommon for the face to get damaged if the pulley has come loose.

 

It can be re-faced in situ and there is a proper VAG tool for this.

 

Steve Cresswell has this (C&R) - suggest you get in contact and maybe get the car shipped up to him.
