Mike d 0 Posted July 23, 2010 hi iv got a mates corrado vr in for some repairs and its recently had ultimate road cams fitted but it doesnt run very great, but upon checking the piper spec sheet iv noticed it says not recommended for standard injection. they are 276 deg duration so pretty mega, what injectors would you recommend fitting for the car to run properly? having trouble getting information on this so this is a last resort. thanks
pete_griff 0 Posted July 23, 2010 afaik the standard injectors SHOULD be more than man enough to cope with the extra flow needed - you're just in need of a decent remap to get them pulsing correctly... i could be wrong here (please someone correct me quickly if this is the case), but i recon all you need is a remap. has anything else been done to the car or is it just cams? ... and yeah 276 degrees
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 23, 2010 Maybe he means some better atomising injectors are required because the airflow is disrupted by the cams too much? But I agree, the standard injectors with a remap *should* be up to the task. TBH, that is a wild duration for a VR6 though. The more usual choices might work better in a road car. Schrick 268s, Schimmel 263s etc. There was also some 288 cams from an American firm, but the engine will barely idle  8000rpm top end though
WreckedGecko 0 Posted July 23, 2010 What sort of a difference do these cams actually make with a VR lump? I have seen some silly numbers thrown about, but haven't ever driven a camed and non-camed back to back.
Mike d 0 Posted July 24, 2010 well according to the sheet all the other cams that can be bought from piper are fine but the ultimates are not for standard injection thats why id be more into injectors. that came from the bloke at piper but he doesnt know what size of injectors to use. pretty stupid if you ask me as why make them if you dont know what to make them run. i removed a spark plug and its running lean according to the tip and like i said the exhaust was glowing red. now thats some serious heat iv only ever seen on a fooked cat convertor or a turbocharged car
Mike d 0 Posted July 28, 2010 where would the car be able to get mapped about. as i tried to get my golf remapped and the company that i mailed about it said it was too old to remap. and this was a company that specialised in vw's up here in scotland (angel tuning) i think it was

Be good to see what numbers it makes with those cams :)
