VR6cramp 0 Posted September 6, 2010 I need some help from all you rado nuts out there with alot more knowledge than myself :) Basically my VR6 has started to kick out some nice black smoke! Also when starting it leaves a nice black soot splatter on the ground blow the exhaust  Also i am sure its using a lot more fuel than it used to but maybe that it just me. Reggit 0 Posted September 7, 2010 I'd guess at a failed lambda probe, but you really need to get it scanned for fault codes to be sure. There's a sticky thread showing people with the gear to do this and their locations.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 7, 2010 Lambda doesn't engage until 70 deg water temperature. First thing to check / replace is the ECT (AKA "Blue coolant sensor"). The engine probably thinks the car is in Siberia and is fuelling it to suit.
VR6cramp 0 Posted September 7, 2010 Well i have just been round a mates house and he has hooked it up to the Vagcom the faults found were: 00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation 08-00 - Control Limit Surpassed 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation 10-00 - Adaptation Limit Not Reached We are going to replace the Lambda sensor to hopefully sort that issue! Has anyone ever had the other fault before or know of what it might be? Thank you in advance for any info
