Slimg60 0 Posted September 14, 2010 This morning my speedo when a little wierd. Started off my gradually dropping and rising again. Noticed that the spoiler was also lowering with the speedo and then raising when it come back to life. By the time I'd got to work the speedo had completely died. The spoiler still works off the manual switch. Also noticed that when the speedo died, my mileage stopped counting up :gag: Is the likely to be the speedo sensor on the gearbox? Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 14, 2010 Yep, sounds like the speedo signal has stopped at source, rather than an electrical fault as it's affecting the spoiler too, so defo the gearbox sender I'd say. Only about 2 brown sheets to replace IIRC.

Supercharged 2 Posted September 14, 2010 Yeah, they're not much, mine was £15 back in the day - tend to go wrong after clutch changes after garages drop gearboxes on floors :bad-words:
Slimg60 0 Posted September 14, 2010 Is the speedo sensor on top of the gearbox?
Supercharged 2 Posted September 14, 2010 Yes, worth re-seating the plug etc and checking wiring before you replace.
Slimg60 0 Posted September 15, 2010 Had a quick look today, I cant seem to find it on the gearbox
Supercharged 2 Posted September 15, 2010 What age is the car slim - assume it has digital clocks? If so then it's a small black thing that screws onto the top of the rear of the box with a 3 pin plug - you should see the wires running t it unless it's been ripped off or something strange...
