Andy-H 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Hi Folks, going to try a full interior re-trim in the car and this will be done by myself  But before I start this I need to remove the material from the original door cards etc. Do I just use a little heat or is there more to it?? Cheers in advance, Andy
KipVR 1 Posted October 6, 2010 Yeah just a small amount of heat, and pull it slowly to allow the glue to pull apart, or you'll pull off the skin of the door card.
Andy-H 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Cheers for the advice Kip :salute: Just one more..........................will a hairdryer do the trick? Cheers, Andy
_Meth 0 Posted October 7, 2010 The material on the doorcards? I didnt think you could remove that... Am I thinking of the correct bit - the bit of material where the pull handle is etc, then its plastic all around that? Just a square of material that covers maybe 1/3rd of the card? If you get this off - surely itll be near impossible to get something back on neatly...
Andy-H 0 Posted October 16, 2010 He who dares ................. You can manipulate the right material to cover whatever you want, as long as you apply the correct adhesive and that requires the removal of the original material. I'll give it a go and let you know the results :salute:
Andy-H 0 Posted October 16, 2010 Well, I tried it tonight with the hairdryer and ....................................................... :thumb right: It worked 8) 8) 8) 8) Almost finished re-trimming one of the door cards. got to wait for the green piping to be delivered and I'll pop a couple of pics up :thumb right:
Portent 0 Posted October 25, 2010 Looking forward to seeing the results on this one. Are you retrimming in leather and if so, are you going to match the leather doorcard pattern from standard leather? e.g. the sort or padded stripes in the original leather doorcards, if you know what I mean.
