Strange Plastic Isolator Clip Near The Starter Motor (VR6)

Hi Everyone..... After lots of "lurking" I'm afraid I've got to ask a Nooob question!!

 

Had My VR6 for about 2 weeks now and run into a little problem....

 

I have narrowed it down to an arcing issue inside a plastic clip type arrangement attached to the starter motor - now I'm sorry to ask but I don't know if this clip arrangement is a stock item or is an after market jobbie fitted by one of the previous owners!! - can anyone help me??

 

Took me a while to work out what was happening..... so far I have replaced the 109 relay & new ignition switch - Turns out this strange clip thingy I have found seems to be isolating a cable & stops it from arcing across and causing the starter solenoid from going into a spasm!!

 

Anyone else come across this issue??

Ok..... I'm an eedjut!!

 

It was the main power supply to the starter that was loose - all fixed now and no problems!!

 

Doh!!
