tattoosbyj 0 Posted December 7, 2010 Hi, I just purchased a 1990 corrado g60 a few weeks ago, and the temp gague is very low. Since it was cheap, the first thing i did was replace the sensor. After the car has been running a few minutes, the temperature climbs just barely off of the peg, then stops. Last night I put a 195 F thermostat in it, and now the gague climbs to about 145 F. Since I do see the needle rise higher than originally, and it has got a new thermostat, i believe that the gague is correct. Also, it is winter and the heat is not working. it is warmer than the air outside, but not enough to heat the car. could the temperature diffrence between the thermostat and the sensor be that much diffrent? If so then, is my heat another issue entirely?
gumby80 0 Posted December 8, 2010 Hi, have a look at my post titled heater cold on idle or something similar.sounds like u may have same fault of sticking valves on the pipes that feed the matrix.
Supercharged 2 Posted December 8, 2010 Try another genuine VW thermostat - non genuine ones seem to play havoc with cooling systems Also try the old sensor back in - again, especially if it wasn't genuine.
