RW1 0 Posted December 18, 2010 Have a look behind the cover by the inner wing on the header tank. And also the core plugs o the back side of the engine block facing the firewall bulkhead. Also, if you aren't doing so, do top up with coolant mix, not plain water. With temps as low as they are, plain water will reduce the antifreeze protection strength. If you aren't sure of the coolant strength, MotorWorld sell a little dipper kit that gives you a quick visual indication by number of floating mini balls. . PROVR6 0 Posted December 18, 2010 Place some cardboard under the car to check for drips/leaks. Mine leaked from the radiator elbow which is a weak point.

SamG40 0 Posted December 19, 2010 Keep an eye for the windows steaming up too. We were loosing water like that for months and I dismissed the heater matrix as the carpets were bone dry. It was the heater matrix but it took a while for the underlay to fill with water and make the carpet wet. I also did the Mk4 header tank mod because the new original spec one I bought 18 months previously leaked around the join in the middle.
