Thaimark99 0 Posted January 12, 2011 My 2.9 original corrado engine has blown up, anyway whilst I was struggling to find a good replacement my brothers mates golf vr6 2.8 has been rear ended. He has scrapped the car but kept a few bits that were good on it.... Ie wheels, seats and engine which has only done 70000 miles (only thing is he has scrapped the engine auxiliaries). He said I can have the engine from it. Does anyone know if it will fit and if so is there gonna be any problems doing a straight swap for mine? Apart from a small loss of power? Supercharged 2 Posted January 12, 2011 Straight swap, the 2.8's tend to be a bit stronger / longer lasting anyway, probably because the water jackets are not as thin as on the 2.9 unit.
dr_mat 0 Posted January 12, 2011 Depends on variant. If it's a 12v 2.8 VR6 it's a straight swap, but if it's the 24v I think there's more work required (and no loss of power!).
