Opinions on which short shift kit on VR, if at all?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, over the years i have had three Corrado Vr6's and have always been tempted by a short shift set-up, have asked about and had different answers from suppiliers, ranging from do not do it, to yes do it its great especially the Neuspeed kit.

Any ideas from people that have actually fitted them? I know they are a pain to fit, but what are they like to live with on a daily basis?

Cheers Dan

I am interested in the answer to this aswell cause i think it's quite a long throw on the shifts. Didn't kno if the b&m mk3 one would be the same cause I havent seen one.

I have a B&M one on mine (fitted by the previous owner). I have to say when i first cought the car i hated it with a passion, it felt far to close together and I would often hit the wrong gear. However a couple of months later i wouldnt do without it, The shift is nice a crisp and due to the mechanism you get a nice satisfying clack of metal on metal when you cahnge gears.

I would recommend it but if you have the patience to get used to it

I have a short shift kit from the Phirm which I believe is to their own receipe. It was a bit stiff at first and I would sometimes struggle to be accurate enough in gear selection. I have to say though that it has aged well and gives a solid quick change now... I think a lot of the struggles people have is more a question of getting used to it.

Thanks for the replies, was looking at a Neuspeed one, anyone out there got one? they are expensive though compared to the B&M about £80 more, is it worth it? as been looking round other forums and people seem to have trouble with the B&M kit???

I have the DieselGeek kit and have to say it is great and comes highly recommended. Much better than the Neuspeed kit I have used in my other Corrado.

Read the reviews, everyone else seems to agree.

Looked into Dieselgeek short shift and unfortuantley he doesnt make them anymore, as the VW parts that were used in construction were so expensive out there in the states, so now a bit stuck. Was thinking about designing my own but need some info on dimensions etc

I can maybe take some pics and measurements if you need, providing I don't have to take the dash out.

Sure this would please a lot of other people too.
