I can only guess fuelling of some kind, but I don't see where it fits in with my K-jet unit and the fuel lines,

I considered this, but if so its not from my car! It just came with the car and its hard to track what it is, no part number!

looks like power steering pipe

Hard to tell from the picture as there's nothing to judge size. If the pipework is the same size as the fuel pipes then it certainly isn't off a 16v and isn't power steering. If it's a larger diameter I don't recollect anything like it in the power steering system either. It may just be a part from another car that was left lying in yours.
