sleeper16 0 Posted February 4, 2011 hi ive recently bought a vr6 with an lpg conversion, I have a missfire between 1.5k-2k the ends of the leads were shorting out to the block so i bought some blue ignitors and its still there i cant see it shorting anywhere is there anything else that could cause this? Also when on lpg i get really bad throttle responce i cant go for full throttle ever and when accelerating i have to feather the throttle until speed picks up. if i dont do this its as if it hits a limiter. is this normal? Majik 0 Posted February 4, 2011 No its not what LPG system are running? Do you know if your emulator is set up properly? Whats the condition of your PCV? Any ignition problems that could exist will be more apparent when running on Gas,
Reggit 0 Posted February 5, 2011 Was going to say the same as Majik - any slight problems running on petrol will be magnified when running LPG. Get it running perfectly on petrol before worrying about the LPG side of things. As a minimum, ensure your plugs are in tip-top condition. Also see here for specialised LPG help. sleeper16 0 Posted February 6, 2011 cheers for the responces. im planning on changing fuel filter and borring coilpack from a mates engine. i was wondering if the cps could cause this problem? as to me it doesnt feel as quick as it should (but only have my mates 2.8 golf to compare it to). it runs cock on on petrol other than the misfire and exactly the same on lpg except if i go for full throttle its fine if i just increase the throttle slowly...but with vr6 who wants that? ill order new plugs next week and check compression while changing them and try a good coilpack(is the 2.8 golf one the same?) i will take the lpg to a specialist to get sorted i just didnt want to turn up there saying its not right if its actually how it is supposed to work. Thanks for all the help!

sleeper16 0 Posted February 23, 2011 ok had a week of missfire free driving much better mpg and in genral lovely week of floggin it. now miss fires back the good coilpack off my mates car is tracking out all round number 6 coilpole much much worse than mine was. this is very bright and consistent spark and moves in a sort of circle around the coilpole. Now can anything on my engine cause this? lpg system maybe? maybe high resistance in plugs causing spark to take an easier path? Or is it just a coinkydink? cheers oh also about to go n cake my oil coil in fiberglass resin hoping it will insulate it enough to run!
