bypassing ignition switch

Recommended Posts

Could anyone tell me how to bypass the ignition switch as in what colours are used for what. My switch packed in today and i was just starting to get somewhere with getting it running again. Im 99.9 % sure it is the switch. So if i could bypass it tomorrow just so i can crack on and get some more work done till i can buy one on monday.

I have tried searching, every time i click on a link etc it just redirects me back to the main forum page.

Thanks

I think Kevhaywire has done this, I read a post about it once, might be worth a pm if the search isn't working correctly.

If its just the starter thats not firing, usually the case, just run a lead down from the battery +ve terminal to the solenoid connection on the starter motor. ie fit a female spade connector on a length of wire, fit that spade onto the soleniod connection and just hold the other end on 12v to fire the starter. Thats what the AA man did to mine the other week, I drove rouind like that for a couple of days. Obviously you'll still need the ignition switch in the normal running position.

Thanks andy i will give that a try. Unfortunately the weathers too bad here today to do anything as the car is currently on the drive not in the garage.
