Intake manifold for 16v G60 engine conversion

Apparently the intake manifold for this conversion should come from the 16v Scirocco engine. But this engine in Europe was the KR code which is quite common in the Golf and Corrado. So why would the intake manifold differ so significantly on the Scirocco that this conversion specifically stipulates that this one is used?

The Scirocco 16V manifold, unlike any other 16v inlet, has it's throttle valve fitted on the right hand as one views the engine bay from the front. There is another, and better option in my opinion, which is to utilise a modified version of the Audi S2 / RS2 inlet manifold. I chose this route on my first generation 16VG60 back In 1995 and have kept it on all my engines to date. Nothing "to hand" at the present time. The S2 / RS2 manifolds are becomming harder to find nowadays, but are none the less out there if one digs around. Owing to the time it takes to research the availability of these manifolds i typically ask my customers to locate a manifold, and forward it to me for modification works. If you would like me to prep a manifold for your 16VG60 project i will be happy to talk details through more thoroughly. Thanks for your assisstance John. Your number is safely stored in my phone for a time when I will no doubt need your a help. Another question has sprung to mind. There are two trails of thought on which direction to come form in constructing the 16vG60. The two options seem to be either start with the G60 block and add the KR 16v head or vice versa. But could you just fabricate a 9A block and head with the neccessary G60 donor parts. Then have a 2.0 litre block instead of just 1.8?
