Coolant temp higher with aux pump fitted ?

Just got around to replacing my aux water pump which was making a noise like a tractor, but have noticed that coolant gauge now sits about 5-10 degrees higher than it was with the pump unplugged. Does anyone have any insight into it ? Probably nothing to worry about, but just checking. Oh, and I have a low temp radiator switch fitted but a normal thermostat.
