Why I like my old KR

Recommended Posts

It hasn’t got a sunroof so that can’t break

It hasn’t got ABS so that can’t break.

I can disconnect the battery without having to re-educate the ECU, it doesn’t have one as such. Really only an ignition module.

Doesn’t have ten million sensors of various colours. MAF’s, Auxiliary water pumps, Doesn’t do strange substances so doesn’t need a crack pipe.

You can give a pretty accurate tune up by ear.

Doesn’t have a coil pack which seem a bit fragile going by the posts on here.

Doesn’t have a supercharger that needs rebuilding every few years.

There are probably more things it doesn't have but that's probably just as well though. It has enough other parts that break.

Let's hear it for old cars! I completely agree with the sentiment, I've got an old T25 diesel. When I took it to Islay, the alternator started screeching (think the bearings have gone dry). Ended up taking it off and drove up without it. Not ECU and very little to draw current, so lasted the full 3 hours no problem. Not many cars you can do that with! :)

That's why I've kept mine for 15 years, most reliable car I've had and the lightest corrado too :)You forgot it's got no cat and heater controls that last for over 20 years too :)
