Campaign 0 Posted March 28, 2003 I'm waiting to get my camera back from Pentax at the moment, 'coz it decided the week before the AGM to only take photos when IT felt like it.... I'll put some up soon, as its not a daily driver now. Which is nice, as I can now keep the mileage down a little bit. Must get a cover for it though to protect the leather from fading. Guest Posted March 30, 2003 Polite enquiry only at this stage Roddy , dont get too carried away with your thought processes !! Needing some convincing that sort of mileage does make sense - condition will be all. Roddy have also 'chased' Mr Halliburton so watch this space (or maybe not). too hot 0 Posted March 31, 2003 dan, Yeah you are right my Golf VR6 runs much smoother than the C.which is positively lumpy in comparison 8) :)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted March 31, 2003 Yeah the 2.9 is not a good idler for some reason but when driving I can't tell the difference to be honest. It's a bigger, more powerful engine, so you have to expect a small trade-off. Still, the Corrado always was meant to be a high performance coupe, where as the Golf is more of a luxury hatch (in standard form), so customers of this car (was the same price as a BMW 3 series don't forget) expected high levels of refinement, hence the 2.9 being de-tuned to 2.8. The Highlines were better still with it's OBD2 motronic. Both are cracking units though and are so successful, the VAG group are dumping the 1.8T in favour of the VR for their high performance models :D Instant grunt and a much better sound track!
