weight of a 16v engine?

Hello

 

Could someone give me an idea of the approx weight of the 1.8 16v engine is ?

 

I only ask as over winter I plan on removing it and doing some work on it. Therefore was going to buy a engine stand to bolt it to but the spec's of the stands say it can hold upto ??? KG.

Don't wont to buy one that can't take the weight.

they're not that heavy, a bottom end can be lifted by one person into the back of an estate car and the head is heavy but you can lift one up and into the engine bay on it's own easy enough, I had a 2L bubble block (slightly heavier than 1.8) on a very small stand/frame on a workbench, nothing special is needed.

well if its everything connected and the tech helping (mother trucking little git) undoes the wrong bolt without having the engine supported.....its easily bench pressed back into place...with a lot of swearing!!

I have a couple of Machine Mart cheapy stands and they've taken everything I've put on them without complaint, including a V6 TDI which weighs about 200Kg! A 16V will be fine on any of them ;)
