northernvr6 0 Posted November 11, 2011 Hi Guys so i have my rebuilt vr engine back in the car most of the wiring and plumbing has been fettled but i have to admit i didnt label up all the wires around the battery and the starter motor and im struggling to work out what goes where if somebody out there has some photos of the wiring around the starter motor area it would be much appretiated. Ive had a look about the forum and the closest pics i could find were the ones from the timing chain setup on wiki but there not quite at the right angle where you would see the wiring. like i said any information of any sort is much appretiated Thanks
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 11, 2011 The alternator output wire bolts to the Starter solenoid (13mm nut) and the positive battery lead (big black lead with a square terminal at one end) also bolts to the starter solenoid. Another thick black lead bolts to the gearbox (13mm nut) and then onto the main ground junction behind the battery (10mm nut). The thin blue alternator exciter wire connects to a single pin connector that clips into the plastic cable guide in-front of the starter motor. All the other wires if its standard will be ring connectors that attach to the battery posts. I would send you a pic of mine but it's not standard. Hope that helps!
