Stonejag 10 Posted December 30, 2011 I've noticed I occasionally get a bit of chugging / poor throttle response on the VR6 - seems to affect it from 0-1200rpm, and only when it's raining hard (with standing water) or if I spill anything near the battery when topping up washer fluid or coolant. The rest of the time it seems fine  Should I be worried? (I was thinking possibly a dodgy bit of insulation on the coilpack?) I've attached some audio - you can hear it chugging about 14 seconds in. This is recorded near the exhaust after a 45-minute run. link to audio Stone
floppyman 0 Posted December 30, 2011 Mine does the same and its down to a small crack on the coilpack, moisture goes in there
VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted December 30, 2011 check your maf connection plug for moisture in there, i had the same thing but it was due to the maf cable routeing, it would allow moisture/water to travel into the connection plug, depending on how damp/wet it got, the revs would rev up and down , and if it was flooded you couldnt drive it! as it would rev up and down then cut out!, blow the plug out and a quick squirt of wd-40 or something similar sorts it right out!! Stonejag 10 Posted December 30, 2011 Thanks chaps, when it's light I'll have a look!
Stonejag 10 Posted January 1, 2012 Well, I gave the coilpack a good few squirts with a water mister and couldn't see any arcing - and adding water to the MAF plug made no difference either. Predictably enough it's now running fine! Stone
