Morning folks

Does anyone have the part number for the Hazet plug lead tool?

And, do VW still supply the original red Beru HT leads?

Cheers

Kev

The Iridium plugs ain't cheap! If you're planning to keep the car for 60k they might be worth it, however. I've also been thinking similar things, due to the Shreks' fundamental design flaw!

I think you can buy the hazet tool on ebay. Shipping from the US is probably cheaper than VW prices...

In fact, I can't see a Hazet tool at the mo, but there's a set of Denso Iridium plugs for $65 US. Complete with 250,000 mile or TEN YEAR warranty!!

Hazet tool will be in on Saturday, only 8 left at VW HQ. Part no as Joe M supplied.

Have also ordered 6 x BKR5EIX-11 NGK Iridium plugs @ £8.95 each. Worth a go, eh?

The guy at Spark Plugs.co.uk said he gets a lot of orders from VR6 drivers for these plugs, so they're obviously good. He said they last on average 60,000 miles

Do you need the hazet tool when you've got the shrek?

Yep cause you still need to pull the leads out by the metal shroud but they won't need to come off again for 60K soon

In case you've ever wondered what the plug numbers mean, check this out:- http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/technical/ngkjpg.htm

Basically, the OE NGK plug - BKR5EKU / P means this:-

B - Special design

K - Hex size 5/8" Projected tip (ISO)

R - Resistor type

5 - Heat rating (1 hot -> 11 cold)

E - Thread reach - 19mm

K - 2 Ground electrodes

U - Semi-Surface discharge

P - Premium Platinum.

The things you learn

If you are using XP - you need to be running it in compatability mode for 98/Me??

(On a 2k box you do the same but need to use the compatability tool from the resource kit)

Where did you get em?

I was after the red ones because of their construction quality, are the black ones equally robust?

Just want to get the Shrek on and leave it on for as long as possible!!

got em from GS&F, they were £49.50 (plus P&P and VAT) making £72.26 (to be exact ;)).

The quality seems good, but tbh its hard to judge really, considering the state of my old ones I took off.

part number is 92631H ZP5

VAG Ref. 905 QHT 047

hope this helps mate?

Cheers mate!! I'll pop down to GSF tomorrow. Sure they're Beru and not their winky BBT ones which fall apart in your hands?

£90 inc delivery and VAT. They do have a very good reputation (and a 10 year guarantee!) so should be fit and forget hopefully.

I take it these jobbies won't fit in the standard manifold's plastic guides tho? 8mm sounds too big :-(

(Of course you're not bothered 'bout that with your Shrek )

8mm leads go on mate. It's only the 8.5 and 10mm Racing wires that don't fit.

And yes, exactly, the Shrek will negate the need for half of the cable routing channels
