jd89 10 Posted April 1, 2012 Recently brought my second vr6 (1995), this morning when driving to work the indicators didnt work, either left or right or on the hazards but will work when I put the alarm on. Don't know whether I've blown a fuse or one of the wires maybe lose. Would really appreciate a point in the right direction!! Thanks :-)
Critical_Mass 10 Posted April 1, 2012 Would be worth checking the indicator stalk isnt the fault. Try swapping the stalk from your other VR see if that works.
jd89 10 Posted April 1, 2012 Thanks mate I'll try that, any other tips or ideas what might be causing it?
Album56 0 Posted April 1, 2012 Indicator relay?
Critical_Mass 10 Posted April 1, 2012 I ruled out the indicator relay as the hazards work and the lights flash with the alarm. Unless they work on a different relay
destructiv dave 0 Posted April 1, 2012 I'm pretty sure that the lights when activated by the alarm don't go through the VW relay and instead the will pulse directly into the wire the number of flashes required. I would still look at the relay, the switch and the wiring around the fusebox. I ruled out the indicator relay as the hazards work and the lights flash with the alarm. Unless they work on a different relay
Critical_Mass 10 Posted April 1, 2012 Yeah probably is the case. What about the hazards though??
jd89 10 Posted April 1, 2012 The indicators are working now but then stop working and then start again :-S I've ordered a new relay for it so see what that does plus I'll check the wiring around the fuse box
dr_mat 0 Posted April 2, 2012 See if the indicators work normally when you're not braking .. sometimes you get crossed connections in the rear light clusters that cause a short back through the brake light circuit. Sometimes caused by fitting single-filament bulbs instead of dual-filament too..
