VR6Will 0 Posted April 23, 2012 Hi I've aquired a phenolic spacer gasket for the inlet on my vrt, but also for the exhaust side. I've searched the net quite extensively for the exhaust side, but can't seem to find anything and seems they're only used on the inlet. Has anyone tried the exhaust side? Thanks Will
science 0 Posted April 24, 2012 Reducing heat transfer exhaust side would be counter productive. Plus is going to be about 500°C hotter than most phenolic materials operating temp. Better to wrap, coat or shield the turbo and manifold.
aide 0 Posted April 24, 2012 considered these before and would love to see proven gains using phenolic spacers, and not just "oh the manifold feels cooler to the touch", proper back to back rolling road tests. is there any tests like that anywhere? science 0 Posted April 24, 2012 IMO I think these gaskets would give proven gains on a rolling road with minimal airflow esp on a turbo motor. Meanwhile in the real world, my manifold is always cool to the touch after a spirited run, and hot as hell in traffic. Cant do any harm though, unless it melts :-&
