mk4 brake changes

Recommended Posts

I ned some help sorting all the bits for a mk4 conversion on a rado!

I already have front and rear calipers of my mates mk4 gti turbo

but am not sure what discs and pads to order!

Do i need the mk4 discs and pads up front and then normal corrado stuff on the rear?

And where is the best place to buy all the bits?

The rear pads and discs - order as normal for Corrado. You even use the Corrado carrier.

The fronts, Mk4/Corrado pads and mk4 discs 288mm

TPS are reasonable for discs and pads... Especially if you are entitled to discount. That's where I got mine from anyway.

It's common practice to go with MK3 Highline carriers and discs to keep the offsets correct. I'm not sure what disc offset the MK4 uses, but MK4 pads etc can certainly be used.

Pads are all the same mate, but the carrier and disc offset varies, so I would stick to MK3 spec for those personally. Unless anyone knows for definite that MK4 discs are the same?

The MK3 and MK4 calipers are all the same, it's just the carriers and discs that have varying offsets across MK3 and MK4. It's why when you fit 312s you need to move the carriers 6mm inboard to get the offset back inline for Corrado use.

when i have done the 288mm upgrade (twice) i used mk4 gti front callipers and carriers and they bolted up using no spacers or longer bolts, just needed to buy some late hoses from off a mk3 gti/vr6.
