Summz 10 Posted August 14, 2012 was wondering how easy a job it is to get the carpets out, wash them and put them back in. or perhaps replace all together?? i have the 93 cream carpets and they have taken a beating and eventually want to replace the cream with black interior. V33DUB 0 Posted August 14, 2012 Having recently done this I'd say removing them is pretty easy. There's loads of info on here on how to remove the centre tunnel, handbrake handle etc. Front seats, dash undertrays, footwell trim, rear bench will also need to come out which are all easy enough. Just make sure you keep a note of where all the trim and clips go... I used freezer bags and took photos... amazing the stuff you think you wont forget but do! And more than likely some will be missing or will break so good plan to make a list of needed replacements. Make sure you've got a good day of weather. Took me most of the day to remove everything, clean, leave to dry and put back in. If you're looking to change colour, I'd wait and do it when you have the carpet... like I said, not a technically difficult job but time consuming! Rorgasm 10 Posted August 14, 2012 Have this job to do my self soon. Black to Grey. Mine is an early interior though but will let you know if the carpets ect are any good for you if you like?
Bazmcc 0 Posted August 15, 2012 Not too bad. Time consuming. Loads of clips and tabs and screws everywhere, especially around the drivers side footwell. Obviously all the center console will have to come out. I just done mine but as I'm doing a dash and airbox conversion with everything out I had easy access to everything. Summz 10 Posted August 15, 2012 Have this job to do my self soon. Black to Grey. Mine is an early interior though but will let you know if the carpets ect are any good for you if you like? yeah that would be ideal thanks, i wont be doing the job for a week or two as i need to get a little spare cash incase something goes wrong, and to buy new interior. i was fiddling around with my centre console the other day because it was all lose and wobbly and managed to take it all out and put back in with few fittings but it does seems relativly easy to do. and yeah good idea to take pictures and lable everything, im usually pretty good with remembering where everything goes but better to make sure. ill make sure to look up on previous threads whilst doing the job. always nice to have something to refer to + pictures to have a gand at. Been looking at black leather seats + door cards etc on few sites, looks like they will cost anything from £300+ for a half decent set!!
Supercharged Will 10 Posted August 15, 2012 Easy job, take you time so you don't break anything. should take much more than 2-4 hours depending on how well you know the car etc.
