woodland.liam 10 Posted November 30, 2012 I have my eye on a 1993 VR6; I currently own a 1997 Golf, LOVE IT. But obviously the Corrado would be a major upgrade. My biggest concern about buying it would be problems. What are some common problems they have? I am very mechanically inclined, how easy is it to perform the repairs myself? How much would you say parts cost on average, compared to my Golf. Thanks.
Portent 0 Posted November 30, 2012 Spoiler not working (motor, relay, fuse or speed sensor). Sunroof breaking (motor or side linkage). Heater controls break (mechanism behind the controls bfreaks or bowden cables stretch). Heater fan only works on one speed or not at all (resister of motor problem). Electric mirrors don't work in all directions (usually a faulty mirror switch or can be cleaned up). Radiator fan onlhy starts on stage 2, not 1 (can't remember the cause). Ignition switch faulty. Immobiliser fails if on original. Headlights very dim (nothing wreong, that's just the way they are - uprated headlight looms available from the forum). Heater matrix fails (dshboard out to fix) - check heaters get warm otherwise someone may have bypassed it. Rust. Worn suspension (they are all old now). Rattly engine caused by chains or tensioner needing replacement. Welcome to the forum. They really are great cars :)
