timthetinyhorse 0 Posted March 14, 2013 Ok so I'm about to drop the car out of my car as I think I have an issue with it but if this proves Not to be my issue then I'm going to do a comparison test as Im low on ideas, My question is though how do I do the test..... Do I pull the fuel pump fuse out (if so which fuse)? Do I remove one plug at a time and test then replace plug and do next? What reading should I expect on a VR6 with 135,000 miles on (I understand that I'm looking for different pressures between cylinders but would like to know where abouts it should be at) Is it ok to do this with the cat off the car? lilfuzzer 1 Posted March 14, 2013 Similar to the one that I used mate. Can't remember which fuse off the top of my head just now have u got access to a bentley manual? josh.c 10 Posted March 14, 2013 Can't specifically help but me and my gf's dad ran compression tests on his mk3 vr6 and used a gauge which looked identical to the one you've linked to. Due to being quite short, it is a bit of a sod to remove but is possible. We removed the fuel pump fuse and had all the plugs removed. On the 2.8 VR6, we were looking for and achieving in the 10-12 bar range.
