Byrd 10 Posted March 17, 2013 I have done a search for this specific problem, as there has been loads written on here regarding abs faults. My problem is when I hit 100 mph, the abs light comes on and stays on until I switch off the ignition. It doesn't come on again until I hit 100mph again?!? Anyone had the same experience?? robo22sri 10 Posted March 17, 2013 100mph! naughty naughty! Yeah my mk3 does it! One of the sensors is shot but i cant be arsed to find out which one, they are cheap as chips to replace just do the lot.
MarkFoster 0 Posted March 17, 2013 Yeah, it's a safety feature to dissuade drivers from speeding.... (It's not really(!) as Mr SRI advises, check your sensors)
Supercharged 2 Posted March 17, 2013 Loose wheel bearing or ABS cage distorted / rusty You need VAGCOM to see which one it is
Stonejag 10 Posted March 19, 2013 Note that if you can't get it to talk over VAG-COM then the ECU may have failed, they sometimes go die and go silent (though the ABS can still work!)...which is a right pain when you don't know why the light keeps going on and off! Byrd 10 Posted March 19, 2013 (edited) Thanks for feedback, will try get feedback from VAG COm first. Not often that I am driving over 100mph so there are more pressing issues to be addressed- Like new sunroof seal, drivers side window not closing 100%...............YOu know the stories. Then cherry on top, after leaving a meeting in her yesterday, my clients' bull mastiff chewed the paint off the front bumper- 10 holes through to the black plastic!!!!!! WHEN DOES IT EVER END!?!?!?!? Lucky for the dog, I only saw the holes after I got home...................................Obviously didnt like the agressive stance of the Corrado!!! One more thing- are the sensors and ABS cages Corrado specific parts are are they Golf Jetta? Edited March 19, 2013 by Byrd
Roger Blassberg 0 Posted March 19, 2013 Not C specific. Sensors and cages are standard VW and cheap enough, although the rear sensors come with the cable and are not quite as cheap. RB
