Pulled on hand brake and it wet bang

Really loud pop both dogs shat themselves and handle is now nearly verticle

Is it cables gone?

Is it holding slightly? Take the tunnel cover off. My bet would be the spot welds on the mounting plate have given in.

Well here's hoping you made it better than that?

Surely it would have been easier to get a length of round bar instead of a sacrificial deep socket?

Yeah stripping out the interior is not too bad - you'll only be doing a few spot welds so doesn't need to come out completely!

You can see the pin holes and burns from the weld splatter. The whole car has been proper cowboy'd like this everywhere!

 

Hats off to the bloke that did it though. Theres a village missing an idiot somewhere!

No its cream mate. It separates between the tunnel running down to the front footwells. Its both sides just below the tunnel part thats burnt. :rolleyes:
