Bobby 0 Posted May 7, 2004 was in my 90 16v corrado today and realised that there was some smoke coming from around the steering column/clocks  ,so i turned the engine off and left it for a while. when i started it back up it seemed ok, well no smoke from the dash anyway, any ideas on what it could have been. Could be it be linked with the fact that when the engine is reved past 6k the engins temp kept shooting upto to 120? could this be caused by the sensors on the engine being disconnected, or is it more likely to be some dodgy wiring? thanks Bobby :D

HiAsAKite 0 Posted May 7, 2004 Happened to me in both my mk2 Gti and my Corrado.... clean the crap out between where the stearing wheel and column meet.. you'll see some wires going from the wheel to the column (horn I think).. I guess the crap maybe shorting it... NB: you do not t disassemble anything to do the above..!
Bobby 0 Posted May 8, 2004 yeah spot on mate the indicators are refusing to flash from the stalks unless the stalk is held back but they all flash from the hazard switch so its not the relay, hope its just that anyway :D , thanks again
