G60 Oil Return Pipe

Recommended Posts

Can somebody please help,

My engine seems wet around the oil return pipe going in to the block. It's not loads just getting the odd patch on the floor now then.

Does this pipe, just pull off from the block end and are they still available from dealers.

It's screwed in, should be able to undo it fairly easily if needed.

Not sure if it's available or not.. :\

Access to the union doesn't look great, Ive taken the drivers side headlight out. But its still looking awkward to get to.

Would it be possible to pull the pipe of the union do you think?

Finally managed to find some time to investigate into this further. Trying to get access to union from underneath was near impossible for me, so had to go from top which was probably the best option.

After removing the charger bracket to get access to the return union I found this under the bracket.

I did not realise there was hole there that was meant to be sealed off with an O-ring behind the bracket. To me this looks more likely cause of the slight leak near the return line, don't you think?

Think I will replace the seals on the bracket and the return line, just to be sure.

Also anyone know what this condom type thing is, behind the bracket and should it be there?

Its where a breather hose goes on other engine specifications.

Looks like someone has tried to use sealant or something before. The O-ring gasket is part number 049127311

May also want to check the gasket between the oil filter housing and the block.
