timthetinyhorse 0 Posted July 21, 2013 Quick question.....before fitting do I need to submerge it in oil?.
Harrier 1 Posted July 21, 2013 Don't think that's necessary, cranking the engine without plugs in & fuel pump disabled ,for a while will ensure oil pressure at tensioner
timthetinyhorse 0 Posted July 21, 2013 But could that not cause the chain to skipp sprockets as there isn't enough tension when cranking?
Roger Blassberg 0 Posted July 22, 2013 There is a spring in there as well I think, enough to keep the chain on the chain wheel at cranking speed. It's sudden engine speed changes at relatively high revs which cause the chain potentially go sufficiently slack to jump. One long cranking session with the plugs out, until the oil pressure warning light goes out, and all will be well. Best wishes RB
