VW Corrado VR6 1992 £1195 - Kidderminster, Worcs

Recommended Posts

It is with a heavy heart that I advertise my Corrado VR6 for sale. My very genuine reason for the sale is that I have too many toys. Sadly whilst I have the Corrado I won't get my Mk2 Golf back on the road. I hate the idea of losing the Corrado but I will never get rid of the Golf - I have had it 13 years!

So the nitty gritty:

Mileage: 196k (high but read on)

Tax: End Nov

MOT 17th Nov

Mileage on engine: approx 70k (again read on)

Colour: Moonlight Blue

The engine: The previous owner, a mate of mine, spent a lot of money 4 years ago with Stealth for a rebuild, this was based on a low mileage engine with 60k on the clock, the engine was inspected and a full top end rebuild was instructed. I have receipts for the thick end of £1500. This means that this engine is absolutely spot on and drives really well.

Other spec:

Koni top adjustables and H&R Springs

Milltek full stainless exhaust

Polished rocker cover (needs cleaning if you are a shine freak but should come up nicely with some metal polish)

Braided hoses for brakes.

OK, some points that are worth knowing, there is a reason I have priced this at the lower end. The body work is not the best. Various small dents and a couple of bits of rust here and there. I have many spare panels in the correct colour that will sort some of this. Also the laquer is faded in a couple of areas. Bodily it needs TLC if it bothers you. Personally it just meant that I never minded leaving it anywhere.

Mechanically it is awesome, though it has a couple of niggles:

Exhaust knocks rear beam with passengers in the back.

Near side wheel bearing sounds a bit dry, but does not hum like they do when they are heavily worn.

Rear off side brake caliper was replaced last year, brake disc was not and it is still rusty, I don't do enough miles for it to clean off.

Clunking when changing gear, this is not engine mounts as I have replaced them all. I suspect a lower arm bush is moving under load.

1st gear is slightly noisy, never got any worse in 3 years though.

Interior is good, all electrics work including the sunroof. Eagle eyed will spot it is a later interior.

So why am I selling it? Well I work full time, study a degree part time and in reality I just want to concentrate on my MK2. People will be suspicious me selling with so little MOT but in reality in is mainly because the classic insurance is up end October and I just want to insure the Mk2 instead for convenience.

So in conclusion this will make a cracking car based on the engine, this car has never ever let me down, it was the car that worked when my T5 blew turbos, blew engines, and an Alfa also blew an engine. It got used when it needed to be, and at other times driven for fun. In the last year it has done about 1500 miles and that is all.

Price: £1195 plus negotiation on the spares, if asking price is met it will come with two wings, a front panel and a bonnet.

Location Kidderminster

Please bear with me as studying for the degree makes me very busy.

Photos are 3 years old, please note it now has standard grill and rear lights
