age of a 20v engine

hi i am buying parts for my 20v engine ready for the conversion,ive been looking at cambelt kits.problem ive got is the belt kits are different part numbers depending on chassis number which i dont have.any ideas how i can tell its age, its an agu engine .after 2000 there must be something different

This is about the Audi A3, but as far as Im aware, the VAG group shared the engines...

thanks but i still dont no if my engine is a 1996-2000 or a 2000-2003.i think it could be the early one tho as the coil packs are screwed down

It should be date stamped on the block.
