Corradokid82 10 Posted March 1, 2014 Right, where to start...... This might be a little long winded but please bare with me.... A little while ago I bought a piper cam + Followers for my G60.(now a 1.9 with forge internals etc) anyhow I had the cam etc fitted and it was very tappy but almost like a single tap which increases as engine speed increases. It basically sounds like the cam is hitting one or two of the followers. After giving some time to settle in the noise did not go away. I had the oil changed to a thicker type and tried again but no joy. The noise was still there. I next had the followers changed as piper suggested this but still no joy. I have now had the original cam refitted and all is quiet. The car drove absolutely fine with the piper cam but really noisy/tappy. Obviously this isn't right but I really can't see it being down to a faulty cam. Now I understand the G60 has hydraulic followers but I am due to have my head ported etc by cnc and I mentioned this to them. They said that it sounds like an issue with the followers not being correctly adjusted. So my question really is can they be adjusted anyway, I'm thinking the garage just plonked the cam in and that's it and haven't done any adjustments etc. Any comments would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to send the cam back to piper when it's doubtful it's faulty.
