owenfishburn 10 Posted May 20, 2014 Any help would be great. My vr6 has started to run at a temp of 110 it used to be 90. It doesn't take long to get up to that temp either. When I stop I can smell the heat from the engine bay if that makes sense. I've also started to hear a noise from the engine when accelerating like a tapping noise which gets faster as I accelerate. I know the clutch release bearing is going as that makes a tapping noise when the clutch isn't pressed in but I'm not sure if the noise is connected in any way. Any ideas
Supercharged 2 Posted May 20, 2014 Usually the radiator fan switch causes running at 110c - the first stage fails but check the wiring to it first. Regarding the noise - what mileage is it on? Have the chains ever been done?
owenfishburn 10 Posted May 20, 2014 Is the fan switch a easy fix. The mileage is 152,000 not sure on work previously carried out as it came with no info.
Roger Blassberg 0 Posted May 21, 2014 Look at "The Definitive Cooling Guide" under the Stickies in this section. It will tell you how to trace the fault. Best wishes RB
