oil sump gasket leak - get a new gasket or some "on tube sealant"?

Recommended Posts

I thought maybe it was a small leakage coming from the sealing ring on the side of the chain - but just had a closer look and it actually seem like a oil sump gasket leak (fingers crossed :) ).

Read a bit around of Vortex and some seem to sugest using a "gasket on tube" type of thing.

Any of you have any experience with this ? - eventually any part number for VW's stuff on this ?.

And will this completely replace the gasket, or is it a sealant that is supposed to be used with a gasket ?.

I have a spare Victor Reinz gasket laying around so could fit that - but if this sealant thing is a better solution I'd rather do that.

Any sugestions and part numbers would be appreciated! :)

I used the tube of sealant when installing my 24v sump but I believe that it is best suited to these as they are cast. With a steel sump use your new gasket and all should be good for you buddy
