VEEDUBBED 0 Posted August 14, 2014 This is a first for me, Yesterday i was cleaning out a pair of 02A gearbox inner driveshaft cups of their grey cv grease and happened to notice that both cups are badly damaged and have been cut into by the ball bearings within the inner cv joint!, big gouges/cuts were the ball bearings have cut into the metal. I opened up a spare 02J Passat td 'box and, low and behold, the same damage..WTF has caused this?? Any one else seen or noticed this whilst within their gearbox?
