massbad69 10 Posted January 25, 2016 It's great having shiney new parts to fit . Hope to finish mine on Saturday. Exciting for you to get it finished :thumbleft: I would have liked to fit all the brakes myself but I've not got the time and I wanted it done now, so I can then concentrate on the other bits and pieces. robrado974 1 Posted January 25, 2016 I got my underside (rear of the car ) refurbed by my friendly mechanic. We were supposed to do it together, but my work load is massive ATM . I preferred him to do the brakes and lines anyway . I'm not keen on doing them myself.
massbad69 10 Posted January 25, 2016 I'm similar as I do and have done brakes before but feel better when my mechanic buddy does them. I always worry about breaking bolts etc and struggling to sort it. Weekends are my only time off and my sons take up a lot of my time with their sports so it doesn't leave to much spare time. massbad69 10 Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) Photo bucket is not working so no pics. Car goes into my mates garage tomorrow for the following - MOT Full service, all filters incl fuel, quantum oil and spark plugs. New rear calipers painted black New rear carriers painted black New caliper fitting kit New carrier bolts New braided hoses all round New rear grooved and drilled Brembo discs New rear Brembo pads and fitting kit New disc retaining screws all round New rear brake shields New front Brembo grooved and drilled discs New front Brembo pads and fitting kit New handbrake cables New ball joints New drop links New brake fluid Not too bad a list. Once it's home next week, I've got the new dash speaker wiring double adapters so I can fit the speakers, new accelerator rubber pedal and then need to get my spare Speedlines into the refurber to get them painted grey with diamond cut rims and the new Proxes popped on. massbad69 10 Posted January 30, 2016 How long have you owned it now ? I bought it last September and not had much chance to enjoy it yet because of our wonderful winter.
massbad69 10 Posted February 5, 2016 So the car never went to the garage last Saturday because of the snow, so I drop it off tomorrow. Looked through its wee history file and found a Corrado disc presumably the PDF of the Bentley manual. Also it has fsh all stamped up in its original book pack even with the original salesmans business card etc. A few tax discs and receipts with most of its mots but a few missing. Once I get a mo I need to get the wheels over for refurb and when they return, when I'm fitting them I will detail in the wheel arches and wax for protection. Taxed it today on direct debit continuously so it can be enjoyed whenever.

massbad69 10 Posted February 6, 2016 Hopefully I have got all the correct parts but I may be wrong. Rear has new discs, pads, abs sensors and abs rings, new rear wheel bearings for in the discs and new brake hoses and handbrake cables. I hope that's correct ?? but Corrados are new to me !! delfinis38 1 Posted February 6, 2016 Sounds about right. Didn't you fancy doing it yourself ?
massbad69 10 Posted February 6, 2016 Yes I did and have done on other cars but wimped out for no reason really  As its my first year with the car I wanted all the brakes sorted and the remaining suspension parts replaced before using it. I'm struggling for free time between my 2 boys, getting my house ready for selling, looking for a new house and work. I get " preferential rates " from my mates garage so thought I would just get it all done in one go (sold my mk1 parts to cover the bill) Then I will start doing all the other jobs like stereo, speakers, window, heater control, wheel arch clean down, all door surrounds and jams back to immaculate etc etc so it's as good as it can be for the better weather :thumbleft: Oh your car is a peach btw !!! massbad69 10 Posted February 10, 2016 Garage just called to tell me that my nearside front caliper is seized, I knew that I should have bought new ones at the same time as doing all the rest of the brakes :bonk: Pair of new front calipers it is then :thumbleft: The result is the car has pretty much a new braking system and new suspension. Coolant change being done as well as the brake fluid change. Hopefully it will be a well fettled car after all this, not that there was anything wrong initially
massbad69 10 Posted February 11, 2016 Couple of quick snaps of the new brakes on the front and rear taken by the garage. Front calipers will get painted black to match the rear ones, obviously never had them before it went in so they are silver just now. MOT and handbrake cables then bleed the brakes tomorrow. delfinis38 1 Posted February 11, 2016 I'm glad they did a rubbish job of putting the rear bearing dust covers on... I had no end of trouble last weekend... Car looks great :) are the front pagid remanufactured calipers.
