delfinis38 1 Posted October 21, 2015 I have an original VR exhaust on my car, rear box and mid section were bought new a few years ago.... anyway the silencer that joins to the cat is not available these days.... so a mate of mine has fabricated a new one for me for free, it's a work of art. anyway from my dimensions I gave him it seem that the internal slot that slides over the cat has been pumped up 1mm too much. I've not tried it on the car just had a quick measure. he has put four slots at 90degrees so it can be clamped up and squashed a bit.... is 1mm too much to squash down, I guess I would put in loads of exhaust paste..... i'd rather not ask him to mod the exhaust at this stage if I can get away with it... he's obviously put a lot of time into it
Harrier 1 Posted October 21, 2015 I would have thought you would get away with 1 mm
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted October 21, 2015 I would get some of that exhaust repair foil tape (I think Holts make it. Halfords) to build up the diameter a bit.

I guess I should off given him an exact exhaust as a reference... thought I said 55mm with clearance, and its been pumped up to 56mm... I guess its only 0.5mm slack on each site to take up... will investigate the tape option.
