fuel filter change on a vr6?

gonna attempt this tomorrow - anyone give me a few pointers?

 

i.e where is it?

do i have to do anything funky to the pump etc???

Just climb under the offside rear of the car and remove it! You can't miss it, it's a large silver can in front of the rear wheel. Nothing needs doing to the pump, which is out of harm's way inside the tank anyway.

 

There are some clips (aswell as 13mm nuts) holding the plastic cage to the body which can be a git to remove, but other than that, it's a piece of cake.

on my bmw you had to remove a fuse or something wierd before changing the filter. dont ask me lol!!! :)

Only downer is you get fuel all down your sleeve when taking it out.... and LOTS of fuel pi**es out :mad:

Yeah you get a wee dribble of fuel but removing the petrol cap first relieves some of the pressure in the tank :wink:

But put the cap back on again to seal the system and stop too much leaking out.

aye it was an E36 - you had to do some faffing about bar just whipping the filter off ;)

 

gonna go now - wish me luck :p

well thats that done - pain in the arse to get the plastic cover off - what are those mad clips about?

 

needless to say they didnt make it back on ;)
