pablo_vr6 0 Posted July 3, 2004 gonna attempt this tomorrow - anyone give me a few pointers? i.e where is it? do i have to do anything funky to the pump etc??? cheers all -pablo
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 3, 2004 Just climb under the offside rear of the car and remove it! You can't miss it, it's a large silver can in front of the rear wheel. Nothing needs doing to the pump, which is out of harm's way inside the tank anyway. There are some clips (aswell as 13mm nuts) holding the plastic cage to the body which can be a git to remove, but other than that, it's a piece of cake. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 3, 2004 Was that an E36? I've had a 3 or 4 E30s and off came the filter as per VW's, no faffing about with fuses, LOL!
Scott 0 Posted July 3, 2004 Only downer is you get fuel all down your sleeve when taking it out.... and LOTS of fuel pi**es out
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 4, 2004 Yeah you get a wee dribble of fuel but removing the petrol cap first relieves some of the pressure in the tank
dinkus 10 Posted July 4, 2004 Yeah you get a wee dribble of fuel but removing the petrol cap first relieves some of the pressure in the tank  But put the cap back on again to seal the system and stop too much leaking out.
