Dazz_G60_Wales 0 Posted May 10, 2016 Hi all Been having a fueling issue with the car and not sure how to proceed any help or advice would be appreciated. My g60 seems to run a little flat/lean when driving off the charger, like its holding back. On the charger it pulls lovely. It has a 70mm pully and a performance chip made by an old company now out of buisness. Buggered if I can remember the name,it is on the chip but dont want to pull it out at the mo,think it just removes the flat spot early in the revs. Also once or twice lately when cold it has dipped right down to low revs and had to de clutch and rev to get it back up followed when warmer by a little missing ? Is it poss fuel pump, fuel pressure reg or fuel filter. Any ideas ?
VEEDUBBED 0 Posted May 10, 2016 Start by changing the fuel filter Daz, simple stuff first mate. Change of plugs maybe? Ht leads good? Are all the rubber pipes good? Fpr pipe ok? Ht cap ect etc... Clean out the idle valve too mate.
Dazz_G60_Wales 0 Posted May 10, 2016 Cheers And Idle valve new last year plugs new, leads good. new 1 mtr vac pipe last year. New 02 sensor last year but was after market ! New blue and black sensors last year. checked pipes last year looked good. New dizzy cap last year. But have never changed the fuel filter since I have owned it so will give that a go Mate. She ticks over lovely does not overheat and pulls well on the charger. Cheers Bud
VEEDUBBED 0 Posted May 11, 2016 Sounds good Dazz. Whilst your changing the filter, there is another thing you could do, apart from mechanicaly checking the actual fuel pressure with the car under full load, that's to grab a long bit of wire, speaker wire is fine, then using a cheap digital multimeter, connect the meter to the positive feed to the pump then connect the other ends to the meter and tape it onto the dash, go out for a spin and floor the car in third to see the actual voltage arriving at the fuel pump. Consider that crusty old wiring plays a huge part in robbing the pump of it's vital required volts, you'd be amazed at the difference between 11 and 12+volts.. I used to do this on old sierra cosworths that always had dodgy fuel pump wiring, difference was quite noticable in acceleration. Try it and let me know mate.
