2.0 16v won't rev above 2500rpm wtih maf potentiometer connected.WHY?

HI got a problem.bought 1993 2.0 16v corrado few months ago as a project got an issue with maf potentiometer.when connected car won't rev pass 2500rpm and feels like rev limiter kicked in.when unpluging it everything runs fine idles ok revs nice and smooth.was trying to adjust it but its impossible, someone said that needs to be 0.7v on idle but its not going anywhere above 0.3v-0.4v.anyone got spare one for sale or knows how to fix this problem?thanks
